Nazem Kadri’s Second Shot at Toronto Maple Leafs’ Top Six, Brian Burke’s Wall

The Toronto Maple Leafs are giving top prospect Nazem Kadri another shot at cracking the lineup. On Friday night the Leafs visit the Detroit Red Wings (NHLN-US/HD, LEAFS TV/HD) and Kadri will be filling in for injured winger Clarke MacArthur.

On Thursday, Kadri was seen playing alongside Phil Kessel and Tyler Bozak during practice. However, this was due to the fact that Kris Versteeg was still in Chicago picking up his Stanley Cup ring. One game wasn't enough for Kadri to steal the spot from the Leafs' preseason scoring leader.

Luckily for Kadri, his two goals and an assist on Thursday night bought him another day —and a minor injury to MacArthur bought Kadri another game. MacArthur has a sore groin and will be missing Friday night's game, opening a spot for Kadri on the second line.

For Kadri, this may be his last chance to impress Leafs brass and stick with the team for beginning of the season. With Kadri moved to the wing, the Leafs may have more possibilities up front than originally thought.
