The New York Rangers have placed veteran defense man Wade Redden on waivers today.
It was a questionable move, but Glen Sather has decided to do it.
This move will open cap space for the New York Rangers ($6.5 million) and this will open a roster spot on the Rangers defense. Wade Redden will be sent to the AHL when he clears waivers, unless a team picks him up before noon tomorrow.
The Rangers now have space to place a prospect on the lineup, or one of their try-out players. Ryan McDonagh and Alexei Semenov have been extremely impressive throughout the training camp, and will be fighting for a roster spot.
