I have received several emails from fans in the past few days suggesting that Lee Stempniak has been offered a three-year deal worth a total of $9.5 million to play with the Islanders. I can confirm those rumors are 100 percent false, and he has not been offered that.

That is exactly the kind of deal Stempniak wants, and if he did indeed receive an offer like that, he would jump all over it. On a side note, he would be a good fit for the Islanders if he were to work out some sort of deal.

The Paul Kariya watch is on. Selanne and Ducks management want him in Anaheim and Kariya wants to be there. If nothing can be done, Kariya will look at other options; however, his No. 1 priority is to sign with the Ducks.

Sticking with Anaheim, Ducks GM Bob Murray said in yesterday's press conference that they will try a different approach in trying to re-sign Bobby Ryan. Ryan wants a two- or three-year deal, while the Ducks want a long-term deal. Based on what I am hearing, the Ducks are going to make an offer with shorter-term.

As you all know, Ilya Kovalchuk's contract was denied.
