The 2016 NHL Draft is in the books.
As expected, the top two picks were Auston Matthews, who went to the Toronto Maple Leafs, and Patrik Laine, who was selected by the Winnipeg Jets.
From there, lots of teams shuffled the deck from the projected draft rankings, in hopes of securing the best possible fits for their organizations.
Though plenty of trades were expected, only a few significant deals materialized. The biggest saw Andrew Shaw head from the Chicago Blackhawks to the Montreal Canadiens, who made room by dealing Lars Eller to the Washington Capitals. Goaltender Brian Elliott also has a new home, moving from the St. Louis Blues to the Calgary Flames.
NHL.com has the full list of all the draft selections. Up next, the beginning of the free agency period on July 1.
