NHL teams are in training camp, and the preseason has started. The season will start in earnest in just a couple of weeks, and between now and then, general managers and coaches may decide that they do not like the look of their rosters.
They may try to add free agents or make trades. Sometimes, this will go on behind the scenes. However, when it involves a player like Winnipeg Jets defenseman Jacob Trouba, who is refusing to report to his team because he does not have a contract and has asked for a trade, it's out there for the public to see.
While there are no guarantees that Trouba's holdout will last a long time or that Winnipeg general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff is willing to trade him, the Boston Bruins appear to be one of the teams interested in acquiring Trouba's services if he is indeed made available.
Joe Haggerty of CSNNE.com reported that the Bruins were putting together a plan for an offer sheet for the 22-year-old Trouba.
