I wrote a speculation article a few days ago discussing the possibility that the Philadelphia Flyers could be in trade talks with the Toronto Maple Leafs regarding highly-touted defenseman Luke Schenn. It seems that all that speculation had some legs after all.
Late yesterday, Adam Kimmelman of NHL.com reported that the Flyers and Leafs are indeed discussing a trade. In the article, Kimmelman writes that the Flyers and Leafs are discussing a trade that would send former second overall pick James van Riemsdyk to Toronto in exchange for a package deal of Schenn and other players and/or picks that were not named.
I did a bit of digging once the discussions were finally confirmed, and while I couldn't confirm anything, I get the impression the potential trade may look something like this:
To Philadelphia: Luke Schenn, another forward (Bozak/Kulemin/Kadri)
To Toronto: James van Riemsdyk, second-round pick, (possible pick/prospect)
As I said, I couldn't get confirmation on specifics, but as I understand it, the deal will involve more than just JvR and Luke Schenn.
