Patrick Kane Grand Jury Investigation into Rape Allegations Postponed

A grand jury investigation into the rape allegations made against Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane has been postponed, as "three current and former law enforcement sources with knowledge of the case" told Lou Michel of the Buffalo News on Sept. 8.

On Sept. 10, the Chicago Tribune's Jared S. Hopkins and Stacy St. Clair cited sources who suggested that the hearing is expected to be held in "about two weeks."

According to Michel, "The reason for the delay appears to involve the possibility of ongoing settlement talks between attorneys for Kane and the victim, two of the sources said."

Kane was accused of raping a woman in his home in early August after meeting her at a club in Buffalo, New York, per Dan Herbeck and Michel of the Buffalo News. The woman claimed the 26-year-old invited her and a friend back to his home, followed her into one of the rooms in his house and raped her.

Kane is one of the league's biggest superstars and was even set to be on the cover of EA Sports' NHL 16 this year before the video game distanced itself from Kane in lieu of the investigation.
