Patrick Marleau is now 33 years old with 1,121 career NHL appearances under his belt—and every single one of them has come with the San Jose Sharks.
He's scored 395 career goals, all for the Sharks. He's tallied 79 game-winners, all for the Sharks. He's won 11 playoff series, all with the Sharks.
And now, 16 years since his rookie season in the Bay Area, he's tied the NHL record for, in essence, the hottest start to a season ever.
Marleau scored two goals in the Sharks' season opener against Calgary.
Then he scored two goals in the Sharks' second game, at Edmonton.
Then he scored two goals in the Sharks' home opener versus Phoenix.
Then he scored two goals in a Saturday matinee with Colorado.
That's eight goals.
In four games.
The only other NHL player to do that in his first four games of the season was Ottawa's Cy Denneny—in the fall of 1917.
