Philadelphia Flyers Defenseman Matt Carle’s Kindness Met with Skepticism

The Philadelphia Flyers are a storied franchise that is famous for the work they do with the community in and around the city.

Flyers defenseman Matt Carle is no different.

Carle plays a big part in giving back to his community at home in Anchorage, Alaska and across the Philadelphia area.

Matt Carle has made a pledge that if he gets 10,000 followers on the popular media site Twitter, he will donate $10,000 to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Carle’s Twitter page reads: “Would like to donate some $$$ to a local charity, if I get 10k followers by the end of the reg. season, I'll donate $10k to C.H.O.P. [Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia].”

The idea to do the promotion on Twitter was not Carle’s; instead, it was an idea from inside the Flyers organization.

“I just wanted to do something to get people aware and give back,” Carle said. “It was an idea that I saw from a couple of guys and I thought it was cool.”

His latest act of kindness has been met with some skepticism from the media, though.
