With the Manti Te'o catfishing scandal in the news, there's a little too much conversation about hoaxes. But, what about jinxes? A lot of second-year players across professional sports suffer the vaunted "sophomore jinx" or "slump," but not every player must succumb to such a fate.
In fact, there are five guys set to improve on what can only be described as phenomenal rookie seasons. For example, Adam Henrique—who was not expected to make a major impact—was a revelation for the New Jersey Devils during the 2011-12 season when the team was really looking for the likes of Adam Larsson and Mattias Tedenby to live up to the hype that preceded them.
Henrique led all rookies in assists last year and was a major factor in the Devils unexpectedly returning to the Stanley Cup Final.
