Tampa Bay Lightning star Steven Stamkos became the sixth player in NHL history to score 50 goals in a season twice before his 23rd birthday on Tuesday night.
Wayne Gretzky, Mike Bossy, Mario Lemieux, Joe Nieuwendyk and Alexander Ovechkin are the other five players to accomplish this feat.
Stamkos scored his 49th and 50th goals of the year in the Lightning's dominating 6-1 victory over the defending Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins on Tuesday.
What might be even more impressive is the fact that Stamkos now has 30 goals in his last 36 games.
The 22-year-old star will likely win his second career Maurice Richard Trophy at season's end, and also should be a top contender for the Hart Trophy despite the slim chance that the Lightning make the playoffs.
Whether you think Stamkos is the MVP or not, there's no denying his historic accomplishment on Tuesday was quite impressive.
Stamkos is a real special talent, and there's no reason to think he can't score 50 goals many more times before he retires.
