The Tampa Bay Lightning’s recent slump has raised some questions heading into the final month of the season. The Lightning are 1-3-1 in March and have all but lost their hold on a playoff spot. But with 12 of the final 18 games at home, the Bolts will be on home ice as they look for answers.
On Jan. 31, Tampa Bay sat four points behind Boston for the Atlantic Division lead and was comfortably placed third in the Eastern Conference. A little over a month later, the Bolts have fallen back to seventh with just a three-point cushion on a playoff spot.
Since acquiring Ryan Callahan—and the return of Steven Stamkos—the Lightning have dropped a 3-1 decision to Buffalo and a 4-3 shootout loss to Boston. Before the panic button is pressed, the Bolts are just three points behind Montreal for second in the division with two games in hand.
There are some new questions heading into the final month of the season that Tampa Bay will look to answer.
