I don’t think I’ve ever browsed or heard as many Tomas Kaberle rumors as I have in the past two days. I mentioned that Anaheim was one of the teams in pursuit, and now it looks as though Buffalo is another team with serious interest.
It was brought to the surface that five teams were inquiring, so you can use your imagination on the other three. Boston, Vancouver, and Columbus seem like good calls to me.
Some “insiders” out there have speculated that Anaheim isn't putting Bobby Ryan on the table for Kaberle. It makes total sense—I would never even entertain that idea from an Anaheim perspective.
However, the Ducks are interested in a big time prospect like Luke Schenn or Nazem Kadri as part of a “bigger deal” some have reported.
Please, don’t do it Brian Burke. I would probably weep if the Leafs dealt Kadri or Schenn in a package for Ryan. It isn’t the right move, and Burke will fall into the same scheme as those before him; trading young assets because of a failed season. But don’t get me wrong, not all Leafs prospects fit the same bill.
