Kevin Allen of The USA Today was looking at the upcoming NHL draft and when he got to goalie Jack Campbell this is what he had to say:
I’ve been hearing that Campbell could sneak into the top 10, but I don’t see a perfect fit in the first 10 picks.
Maybe Atlanta at No. 8 might consider him, or possibly the New York Rangers at No. 10, but that is only speculation based on looking at their prospect list. The Atlanta idea has merit also because Campbell would fit into the the age grouping with defenseman Zach Bogosian and forward Evander Kane.
Thoughts: Pundits and members of the media keep insisting that the Rangers would be interested in drafting this kid because they are shallow when it comes to goaltending depth. However, there is a reason for that. Henrik Lundqvist is young, just hitting his prime, and under contract for quite a few years. If anything the Rangers will only need a backup.
