Would Vancouver Actually Consider Trading Roberto Luongo?

I was watching Off The Record the other day and they brought up a very interesting scenario that I never thought of before:

Should the Vancouver Canucks trade Roberto Luongo?

I know that some of you out there must be thinking that this is crazy and will never ever happen; but if you understand the reasoning, this scenario becomes more plausible.

The Vancouver Canucks have arguably one of the best goalie prospects in the entire league in Cory Schneider. After having a very strong season with the Manitoba Moose in the AHL—going 33-23-2 while posting a .919 Sv%, 2.51 GAA, and 4 shutouts.

He could be ready to make the jump to the NHL as early as next season but as long as Roberto Luongo is still the number one goalie, it won't be with the Vancouver Canucks.

Cory Schneider is a restricted free agent this off-season which leaves the Canucks with one of three options: Sign him to a contract extension before free agency, trade him before free agency, or wait to see what offers are on the table.

I think the smartest option would be to try and deal him at the draft.
