Recently, we discussed the possibility of the Rangers signing undersized, but highly-talented Norwegian Mats Zuccarello-Aasen. Well, according to reports, the Blueshirts have indeed signed the speedy winger, although the Rangers themselves have yet to confirm such a deal, or it’s terms.
We thought it was a great idea at the time of those earlier rumors, and if it is indeed true, then it’s great news for Ranger fans. For a team that is desperate to get offense, it’s certainly worth taking a risk on a player like MZA. Sure, he could show up and make it painfully clear that he’s good enough for the Swedish Elite League (where he currently plays for Modo), but not good enough for the NHL. After all, he’s only 5′7″ and about 165 lbs.
That’s a risk worth taking, though. He’s so talented and so shifty, and if he’s smart enough to elude the physical punishment that NHL defenders can dish out, he’d be a great acquisition.
