Draymond Green Comments on Warriors Offense After Loss to Grizzlies

January 7th, 2017 by Mike Chiari No comments »
Following the Golden State Warriors' 128-119 overtime loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night at Oracle Arena, Dubs forward Draymond Green was critical of the team's performance late in the game. According to ESPN.com's Chris Haynes, the All-Star was especially unhappy with how Golden State played offensively in the fourth quarter.  "Our fourth-quarter offense has been atrocious, and I don't know if you could see. Everyone only notices in losses, but I actually pay attention to things when we win also," the 26-year-old said. The Warriors led by as many as 24 points at home, but the Grizzlies outscored them 32-13 in the fourth quarter and 17-8 in overtime to drop them to 31-6 on the season. Per Haynes, Green believes the loss could prove to be a positive lesson for the 2014-15 NBA champions moving forward: I'm actually happy we lost today because there's some things that we need to correct in order ...

Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News passed along comments about the ailment from the 32-year-old forward, who said the issue stems from suffering a bruise on his shooting shoulder Dec. 11. Ever since, it's required constant attention and can often flare up during games: It's bad. You know what it is, it's an adjustment that you have to make on the fly. Like some days it feels good, some days it's tight. Throughout the course of the game, certain shots, certain moves, you feel like the strength isn't there. So it's just a matter of figuring out how to play through it. What's working? What's not? It feels good during the game. And then you irritate it. And then you kind of ...

January 7th, 2017 by Alec Nathan No comments »
There are meltdowns, and then there's what the Golden State Warriors (31-6) experienced Friday night.  Although they once appeared destined for an easy win after leading by 24 points in the third quarter, the Warriors suffered an epic fourth-quarter collapse and fell to the Memphis Grizzlies, 128-119, in a nervy overtime thriller at Oracle Arena.  The Warriors—who didn't make a field goal in the fourth quarter until there was 3:14 remaining—were outscored 32-13 in the final frame and watched Mike Conley drill a game-tying jumper to force the extra session with 7.4 seconds to go in regulation, via the NBA:  According to ESPN Stats & Info, NBA teams had lost 662 straight games when trailing by at least 19 points entering the fourth quarter before Memphis' comeback.  Conley and Zach Randolph dropped 27 points apiece in the win, while Marc Gasol added 23 as the Grizzlies improved to 2-0 against the Warriors this season.  Speaking of which, the ...

January 6th, 2017 by Alec Nathan No comments »
Miami Heat point guard Goran Dragic and Los Angeles Lakers guard Jordan Clarkson were ejected following a heated confrontation during the third quarter of Friday night's game at Staples Center.   The incident started when Dragic went to set a screen on Clarkson near the free-throw line, at which point Clarkson shoved the Heat floor general. Play continued after the initial contact, but the two proceeded to clash below the basket before Clarkson appeared to catch Dragic with a forearm above the neck.  "The heat of the game and stuff happens through the game," Clarkson said after the Lakers' 127-100 win, according to the Los Angeles Daily News' Mark Medina. "We're not going to back down from guys." Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra saw things a bit differently.  "It's really shameful, disgraceful that Goran Dragic got thrown out of that game," Spoelstra said, per the Sun Sentinel's Ira Winderman. Cavs Have Bolstered Roster for Finals Run Before, May Not Be Done This Season

January 6th, 2017 by Jesse Spector No comments »
BROOKLYN, New York — The Cleveland Cavaliers are not satisfied. They're the NBA's defending champions, they sit in first place out East at 27-8 following Friday's 116-108 win over the Brooklyn Nets, and they're not sitting back wondering if their roster is good enough as-is to compete for another title. Hence the trade for Atlanta Hawks swingman Kyle Korver, which the Cavs hope to complete by Saturday, according to ESPN.com's Dave McMenamin and Marc Stein. But anybody surprised by Cleveland's aggressive pursuit to further enhance a squad that already qualifies as "championship-caliber" shouldn't be. This is the same team that sent away longtime Cavaliers staple Anderson Varejao to acquire lights-out-shooting big Channing Frye last season—someone who has a pretty good idea how Korver might be feeling right now. “It made me think, 'Holy s--t, I’m on a contender now,'” Frye said Friday, reflecting on his own transitional experience a year ago. “Then, at the beginning, it’s ...
